The roar of engines breaks the stillness of the Old Lead Belt at St. Joe State Park, one of two off-road vehicle parks in the state park system. The many trails set aside for off-road vehicle use make the park the premiere off-road vehicle area. The park also features four lakes, two swimming beaches, equestrian trails, a hiking and bicycling trail and picnic sites, as well as two campgrounds capable of accommodating campers with ORV or horse trailers
The roar of ATVs and off-road motorcycles combines with the peacefulness of rolling hills at Finger Lakes State Park, one of two ATV parks in the state parks system. Built in a former coal mining area, Finger Lakes’ trails and motocross track are popular with users who come for the day, but often fall under the spell of the spacious campground, leafy trees and hilly terrain. The park is also the site of the challenging 2.75-mile Kelley Branch Mountain Bike Trail and a 4.5-mile water trail.
These trails are located within the rugged river breaks of the West Fork of the Black River. The segmented trails are accessed via county roads and Forest Service system roads, and total approximately 45 miles. There are varying levels of difficulty over each segment, following forested ridge tops and crossing deep hollows. State regulations apply on all vehicles using public roads. Trail use permits are required and are for ATVs, UTVs and motorcycles only. Only ATV/UTV's 50 " or less are permitted. You can purchase permits at the Reynolds County Sheriffs office in Centerville,MO.
Missouri Off Road Parks-Nearly 80 miles of multi-use trails for ATV, motorcycle and mountain bikes wind in and out of deep, forested hollows and down long ridge tops. It's possible to plan a wide variety of full-loop riding without backtracking. The riding area has evolved to a point where portions of all trails have a "most difficult" rating. Therefore, all riders will encounter advanced riding challenges. There are two Day Use Areas associated with the riding area. One is Camp Ridge located on the northeast edge of the riding area just off of H Highway - No overnight camping is allowed here. For permit info please click on the photo above which will bring you to the USFS website.
